LNB Round 15: Leader Leones lose to Indios

The Regular Season in LNB just ended. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Leones (13-8) in Santo Domingo on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by Indios (13-8) 112-97. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Leones. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Indios made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists. The best player for the winners was Luismal Ferreiras (197-2003) who had a double-double by scoring 28 points and 14 rebounds (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field). American forward JD Miller (203-1996, college: TCU) chipped in 10 points, 12 rebounds and 9 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Dimas Carrasco who recorded 14 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Indios have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Leones and Reales.
Important game to mention about took place in La Vega. Second ranked Reales (13-8) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 5th ranked Titanes (10-11) 99-96 on Saturday evening. It was a good game for American point guard Quade Green (183-1998, college: Washington, agency: Octagon Europe) who led his team to a victory with 32 points and 7 assists. Miguel Simon contributed with 18 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. American Keith Jordan (198-1998, college: SHU) answered with 25 points for Titanes. Titanes' coach Yoel Felix rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Reales keep a position of league leader, which they share with Indios and Leones. Titanes at the other side keep the fifth place with 11 games lost.

It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Caneros. It was a key game for the top position in the league. It was a great evening for Jean Quezada who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds. Leones' coach Julio Duquela used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was Luis Santos with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 17 rebounds. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Leones. Defending champion maintains first place with 13-8 record, which they share with Indios and Reales. Loser Caneros dropped to the fourth position with nine games lost.

In the last game of round 15 Soles were defeated by Reales in La Vega 81-76.
The best stats of 15th round was 22 points and 13 rebounds by Raphiael Putney of Reales.



Leones - Indios 97-112

Four Reales and five Titanes players scored in double figures. Titanes' coach Yoel Felix rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Reales keep a position of league leader, which they share with Indios and Leones. Titanes at the other side keep the fifth place with 11 games lost.

Reales - Soles 81-76

There was no surprise in La Vega where 6th ranked Soles (9-12) were defeated by second ranked Reales (13-8) 81-76 on Friday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. It was a great evening for American forward Raphiael Putney (207-1990, college: UMass) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds. Point guard Victor Martinez (185-1992, agency: BMS Sport Agency) helped adding 13 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Reales' coach Ricardo Daniel Maffei allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The best for the losing side was Darwin Cabrera with 20 points and 5 rebounds and forward Josue Salazar scored 17 points and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Reales keep a position of league leader, which they share with Indios and Leones. Loser Soles keep the sixth place with 12 games lost.
